Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDUSOK, formerly University of Sokoto), also Usman dan Fodio University, Usmanu Danfodiyo University etc, is one of the initial twelve federal universities in Nigeria founded in 1975. It is situated in the ancient city of Sokoto. The main campus house the administrative offices, sciences, social sciences, agriculture, arts and languages, education and research facilities. The city campus hosts the college of health sciences and school of veterinary medicine. A third site host the modern university teaching hospital.
The school is named after Usman Dan Fodio, the founder of the Sokoto Caliphate.

UDUSOK is a four-year university that also features Associate's degrees and remedial programs (pre-degree). The university has a large and accredited medical program and the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, which is one of the largest hospitals in Nigeria and West Africa. It is mostly accessible to those of low income and, like most Nigerian hospitals, it does not require health insurance before treatment.
There is a fourth site built during the last administration Bafarawa of Sokoto State under the Leadership of Alh. Attahiru Bafarawa. This site houses the School of Matriculation Studies where students opting for the Remedial Studies are admitted and taught before enrollment in the university (provided they have passed the exams). The Remedial Studies is only conducted for the Sciences and Science related courses. Admission into other courses is sought by the standard JAMB (UME or DE) procedure.
The university is one of the high ranking in northern Nigeria due to its high moral stand and its ability to resist the prevalent ASUU strikes that bedevil Nigerian government universities.
Usmanu Danfodiyo University has several student unions which includes Students Union Government, National Association of Science Students (NAOSS), department associations as well state associations like NAKSS for Kano, NAJISS for Jigawa students,nakass for katsina state students etc.
Prominent among the alumni is Collins Osa Oseki, M.D., founder and president of Calvary Internal Medicine Clinic in North Carolina, US.
